There has been an increase in the number of consumers who are looking to switch energy supplier, new findings show.
Figures from energyhelpline.com show that the site has seen a 79 per cent increase in the number of individuals looking to switch energy supplier as a result of the ongoing cold snap.
"The big chill and high energy prices have served as a wake-up call to consumers to look for cheaper electricity and gas suppliers," said the site's director Mark Todd.
He added that the increase in the number of people looking to switch energy tariffs shows that there are still good deals for consumers to take advantage of.
As well as changing suppliers, customers can use a number of other options to help them save money on energy bills.
Taking advantage of systems such as the boiler scrappage scheme to help towards the cost of installing a new boiler could help householders save money and improve the efficiency of their home heating.
