Individuals who are looking to switch energy suppliers to find a better deal may like to take advantage of a new information guide to help them understand their rights.
Published by Consumer Focus, the document offers information on the level of service people should expect, how to get the best deal and what to do should something go wrong.
Director of energy at the organisation Audrey Gallacher said the group hopes it will be a useful tool to help individuals understand the complex sector.
"Energy bills are a major worry for many consumers. Yet many people find the energy market bewildering and sometimes struggle to even find the basic information they want or need," she explained.
Recently, a study by Ofgem revealed that when new rules proposed by the regulator are implemented, 85 per cent of people can identify the cheapest deal in under a minute, compared with just 44 per cent when using a simplified version of the current system.
