Energy suppliers E.ON have launched a new energy monitor designed to help customers keep track of their electricity use.
The energy starter pack is available free of charge and contains computer software that will ultimately help E.ON's customers reduce their domestic and business energy use.
The monitor, which is worth around £45, is available to both existing and new E.ON customers who pay their bills by direct debit or a prepayment meter and sign up to manage their account online.
Jim Macdonald, of E.ON, said the device will help customers become energy fit and help them rein in their energy expenditure.
"Helping people use less energy means lower bills, and lower bills mean happier customers who want to stay with us for longer," he said.
It is hoped the new scheme will also attract the attention of customers on rival tariffs and persuade them to switch energy providers.
E.ON recently launched an advertising campaign on print and outdoor formats to promote its energy efficiency ethos.
