Firms have been given a range of top tips about how they can increase their business energy efficiency during the warm summer months.
According to commercial retail energy suppliers Direct Energy Business, power grids tend to come under increased strain during heat waves as domestic and business energy consumption increases, so it is important for firms to increase their efficiency to minimise the risks of a blackout.
In order to minimise their business energy usage and maximise efficiency, firms were advised to set the times and temperatures of their thermostats to match their business' schedule.
Direct Energy Business also urged firms to take full advantage of free natural sunlight during the day and increase the output of light bulbs by removing grease and dust.
Mike Beck, vice-president of small business at Direct Energy Business, stressed that it is important for companies to understand the impact their actions during the summer can have on their energy bills, and urged them to implement "efficient business decisions".
