Energy bills 'to jump 15%' - 18/03/2011
Britons may wish to consider energy comparison as fuel bills have been predicted to rise dramatically in the coming months.
Energyhelpline.com has suggested that the earthquake in Japan last week and the tsunami that followed it could lead to soaring energy costs.
This is because the Asian country is likely to need large amounts of liquefied natural gas as some of its nuclear reactors suffered damage in the natural disaster on March 11th.
As a result, energy bills in UK homes may hit their highest levels since October 2008.
Paul Green, chief executive of energyhelpline.com, said: "We are expecting a price rise of up to 15 per cent later this year to take standard dual-fuel energy bills to record levels of more than £1,300.
"There was already upward pressure as a result of the instability in the Middle East and what has happened in Japan can only intensify this trend."
