npower offers £400 for price of new boiler - 15/07/2011

Householders who want to compare energy deals to get cheap electricity packages might be interested in a boiler scrappage scheme.

The project, which is running in Scotland, has received the backing of energy supplier npower and allows people with energy inefficient models to receive money towards a new A-rated boiler.

Npower will match the Scottish government's £400 grant with its own cash, meaning consumers could pick up £800 for a new boiler that will cut their heating bills.

Joan Coe, marketing manager at the energy company, said the scheme will help improve energy efficiency and reduce household bills.

"We felt that it was vital to match the £400 grant as we did during the England scheme and would like to encourage more suppliers to do the same," she explained.

"The grant will only be available for a limited time, so our advice is to get in touch now to avoid disappointment."

Getting an A-rated boiler could help customers when price hikes announced by ScottishPower and British Gas come into effect.
