Homeowners keen to boost their cheap energy supply through green technology may be interested to hear about a new double-sided solar cell that has been developed.
Israeli company BSolar has created the device and claims it could boost energy yields by up to 50 per cent if installed on vertical panels, Wired reports.
The cells achieve maximum power conversion by using reflective light captured from the underside of the panels, as well as direct sunlight.
BSolar claims its new cells deliver 21 per cent more efficiency in gathering energy than the current industry standard.
Chief executive officer at the company Yossi Kofman said: "I am pleased at the remarkably fast adoption of our bifacial solar cells in the market."
According to BSolar, installing the panels vertically will maximise their exposure to sunlight, as will placing them on rooftops painted white or silver.
BSolar is an ethical solar panel supplier, providing low-carbon advice and eco-friendly solar panel installations for home and business premises.
