A scheme in Coventry is helping households to heat their homes and escape fuel poverty as energy prices rise.
The Home Energy Action Team (Heat) project, in partnership with not-for-profit energy supplier Ebico, provides energy efficiency and energy debt advice to customers who are struggling to pay their gas and electricity bills.
More than 500 families have so far been offered support from the programme, with some benefiting from new boilers without having to pay any upfront costs.
Saleem Shiekh of Heat commented: "Our team of experts are passionate about helping people and will continue to help families across the region to escape the pitfalls that lead to fuel poverty."
It comes as government figures show 5.5 million homes were in fuel poverty in 2009, one million more than the previous year.
