More needs to be done to encourage firms to invest in green business energy, it has been suggested.
According to BusinessGreen, the government needs to provide more incentives to persuade businesses to become more sustainable and switch energy providers.
James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen, pointed out that there is an increasing demand for green products among consumers and for green energy among businesses.
"At the same time, the more people who are working in that industry, the more they will be understanding of those issues and demand them as consumers themselves," he said.
Mr Murray suggested that more people would be willing to switch energy providers to more green sources if the government rolls out wider carbon pricing to boost energy bills and encourages people to be more efficient with their energy use.
The government recently announced that the UK Innovation Investment Fund is launching the new £125 million Environmental Innovation Fund to promote eco-friendly business energy technologies.
