Business energy clients might be interested to hear that the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme will be simplified under government plans.
Energy minister Greg Barker has outlined how a consultation on the regulation has led the government to lower the number of fuels subject to the scheme from 29 to four.
It has also decided to keep the energy usage reporting programme rather than scrapping it or replacing it with a conventional tax.
Over the last 12 months, Mr Barker said, "we have seen the importance of the CRC for stimulating the market for new low-carbon goods and service industries".
This has included products to measure energy use as well as energy efficient items such as voltage optimisers and low-energy lighting, the minister added.
