New tool could help cut business gas and electricity bills - 04/09/2009
A new tool available from major energy supplier Npower has been designed to help businesses forecast and manage their future energy use.
The tool, called encompass professional, analyses business energy use and cross-references this with past production records and weather patterns over a 20-year period to calculate how much energy a firm will be using in the future.
It is intended to enable businesses to manage their usage and reduce carbon emissions, as will be necessary for firms involved in the Carbon Reduction Commitment from next year.
Dave Lewis, head of business energy services for Npower, said: "Those companies that put strategies to reduce consumption in place stand to gain from the business benefits of lower costs and emissions."
He added that energy management should be looked at from a boardroom level considering the demands of upcoming legislation and rising costs.
