Royal tour set to highlight sustainable cheap energy projects - 20/08/2010

Prince Charles is embarking on a five-day tour of England, Scotland and Wales to promote sustainable cheap energy, it has been announced.

The Prince of Wales will visit a number of cheap energy initiatives around the country including allotments in public spaces and a large scale project that aims to encourage people in Wales to help conserve tropical rainforests.

Prince Charles will also visit an estate in Nottingham where residents have reduced their energy bills by installing solar roof panels.

The tour, which begins in September, will see the prince joined by his wife the Duchess of Cornwall, who will help launch new energy efficient schemes.

Starting from Glasgow, the visit will span a number of cities and towns including Edinburgh, Carmarthen, Bristol, Newcastle, Todmorden, Manchester and Birmingham, with the prince travelling on the royal train, which runs on sustainable bio-fuel.

Writing in the Telegraph, Prince Charles has previously stated: "People are much more likely to act if the message of sustainability is framed in positive terms."
