A building firm in Hampshire has provided its residents with better access to cheap energy through solar roof panels designed by SolarCentury.
According to the firm's website, Home has worked with Linden Homes to install the technology on the Meadow View homes in Alton to help tackle price rises from energy suppliers, while also helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the properties.
The panels have been built from tiles to minimise their visual impact and residents have also been equipped with a wireless device which enables them to check electricity generation levels from the roofs whenever they choose.
Andy Berridge, regional development director for Home, said on the company's website: "Both Home and our residents will make significant savings on electricity bills through our joint commitment to renewable energy."
Mr Berridge added that he was pleased to have achieved a balance in maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the community and restricting its impact on the environment.
Nearly half of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions come from heating losses from domestic properties.
