A new survey has found that smaller energy suppliers are more likely to have the best customer services.
The poll, conducted by Which?, found that new newcomer Good Energy came top for excellent customer service and clear bills, scoring 79 per cent. Good Energy was followed by Utility Warehouse with 75 per cent and Ebico with 73 per cent.
Respondents said they receive good value for money with smaller energy suppliers, although they charge more for gas and electricity than bigger providers.
The worst energy supplier was found to be npower, which gained a customer service score of just 27 per cent - the worst satisfaction score of all nine energy companies surveyed.
Over four in ten (43 per cent) respondents said they have had problems with their energy supplier in the last year, with the most common complaint being about direct debit.
Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said: "With the arrival of spring, energy suppliers might have hoped for a thawing of public opinion; but this survey shows they'll have to do more than cut their prices once in a blue moon to win consumers over."
