E.ON fund supports northern mothers - 26/08/2011
E.ON, one of the UK's largest energy suppliers that provides cheap electricity, has launched a new fund to support mothers in the north of England.
The company has given £2,000 to Prestwich-based organisation Medequip4Kids, which works with new mums in less affluent areas and equips them with items they need to look after their babies.
Resources to help with breastfeeding and weaning, as well as safety for infants and first aid, will be offered to 21 baby groups in deprived parts of the north-west of England.
Ben Suthers, customer service adviser at E.ON, said: "I'm thrilled that E.ON is able to help in this way. It was a pleasure meeting the team in Rotherham, they were delighted with the funding to keep the group running.
"Community groups such as these provide essential support for young families who need it most. It means a lot to us to keep these going during the tough economic times we are experiencing."
