Customers of energy supplier E.ON could find themselves benefiting from a new green energy scheme.
The company has launched an initiative to fit 15,000 homes with solar panels so householders can generate their own green electricity and save up to £180 a year.
Graham Bartlett, managing director at E.ON's Energy Solutions arm, commented: "With this scheme, people can not only feel safe in the knowledge their homes are helping to power their lives, but also that they'll have a leading energy company backing them up along the way."
The panels usually cost around £12,000 to install but E.ON customers taking part in SolarExchange use the savings made by generating their own energy to pay off the initial cost.
Solar panels can generate energy all year round but roofs must be south-facing.
