Govt has made progress on green issues - 05/09/2011

The government told the Department of Energy and Climate Change that it is determined to be the greenest ever, energy comparison customers might be interested to hear.

Energy minister Greg Barker wrote in Total Politics magazine that in the 15 months since the coalition came to power, "significant progress" has been made on its pledges to facilitate a move to low carbon energy.

The minister explained: "Firstly, we are creating the conditions for green growth, investing billions of pounds of public money into low carbon infrastructure and undertaking reforms designed to attract greater amounts of private investment into the green economy."

This includes £3 billion set aside for the Green Investment Bank, he added. It also includes reforms to the UK electricity market and focusing on energy saving methods.

Meanwhile, energy customers who want to get cheaper electricity bills and become more environmentally friendly could switch energy tariffs to a green electricity deal.
