Many business energy users may be able to see benefits from having a smart meter fitted at their premises.
that's according to eesearch by Opus Energy that revealed 38 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises say they'll be able to get a real-time view of their energy consumption as a result of the gadgets.
More accurate bills were named as a key positive by 36 per cent of people, while 31 per cent said they'll encourage companies to think more about how they can save energy.
Managing director of Opus Energy, Charlie Crossley Cooke, said: "Smart meters are the big industry innovation for the next decade. Customers with smart meters are five times less likely to have a complaint as a result of bill transparency."
The government is currently planning a major rollout of smart meter technology that will see 30 million homes and small enterprises have the gadgets fitted by 2019.
