British Gas encourages direct debit payments - 04/04/2012
Energy supplier British Gas is encouraging people to pay their bills by direct debit by offering incentives to those who choose this method.
It has confirmed it will be taking part in the Big Break campaign, which is a nationwide drive to highlight the benefits of this option.
From March 30th until June 28th, any existing customers with the firm who switch energy payments to direct debit will be entered into a prize draw with the opportunity to win £10,000.
The firm will also donate 50p per customers to homeless charity Shelter for every individual who does this.
In addition to this, British Gas said: "If you know someone who deserves a Big Break - someone who regularly helps others or has overcome significant adversity - you can nominate them to win a £1,000 thank you."
The energy firm has already moved to simplify its billing process by offering simpler tariffs and a full breakdown of costs showing customers where their money goes.
