The MP for north-east Hertfordshire has lent his support to a campaign that seeks to address the lack of cheap energy available to consumers, reports the Comet 24.
Oliver Heald is supporting the campaign which is setting out to gain consumers better pricing information and to improve publicity regarding how to improve energy efficiency.
Campaigners are calling for homeowners to be able to compare energy prices more effectively to ensure they have better access to cheap energy prices.
According to the website, Mr Heald told the Commons: "In this bitter winter fuel poverty has never been such an important issue and I am happy to join this important campaign to get the best energy prices for vulnerable people."
Fuel poverty figures across the UK are thought to have moved past the five million mark since all the major energy suppliers increased their prices last year.
The government announced in the autumn of last year that domestic energy efficiency would be promoted as the best way to access cheap energy.
