Ofgem offers energy suppliers guidance for feed-in tariffs - 06/04/2010
Industry regular Ofgem has issued guidelines to energy suppliers about the new feed-in tariffs scheme.
The guidelines set out the procedures that have been designed and established to implement feed-in tariffs across the country.
Energy suppliers that deliver electricity will also be able to use the guidelines to determine what they need to do in order to comply with the new conditions surrounding the supply licences.
The feed-in tariffs were introduced on April 1st as part of the Clean Energy Cashback scheme, which is also used for the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Stuart Pocock, head of on-site renewables at the Renewable Energy Association, said: "Householders who invest in renewables will be making a sensible financial return for themselves as well as helping to bring down the costs for everyone's benefit tomorrow."
All firms that installed a qualifying renewable electricity system after July 15th 2009 will be eligible to claim feed-in tariffs.
Small and medium-sized businesses that use up to five megawatts of electricity are also able to receive the tariffs, which pay a generation fee for every kilowatt-hour of business energy produced.
