Hull residents offered gas network benefits - 13/06/2011
Householders in Hull wanting to switch gas could be eligible for a scheme to help them deal with fuel poverty.
Riverside, a social landlord, has teamed up with Northern Gas Networks and Community Energy Solutions to extend the gas network to more than 200 properties in the city.
With the project expected to be completed by the end of August, domestic energy customers will be offered free gas connections and help with their gas central heating.
Energy efficiency improvements will also be provided, such as full-house heating systems and instant hot water.
Sophie Cavanagh, strategic affordable warmth officer at Riverside, commented: "The scale of the work being undertaken at Bransholme is testament to Riverside's commitment to improving the energy efficiency of its properties for the benefit of its tenants and the community as a whole."
Meanwhile, cheap energy customers have been told to brace themselves for further price rises by the head of British Gas parent company Centrica.
