Not taking action now 'will land consumers with bigger energy bills' - 26/09/2011
Now is the perfect time to find cheap energy deals online and switch gas or electricity provider, according to money saving expert Martin Lewis.
Writing in the Mirror, the financial bod said consumers can fight rising energy costs by acting now, particularly as there should be no further price hikes from the Big Six energy suppliers.
This means customers can switch to a different provider without worrying that their new company will raise its own gas and electricity prices the following week.
Mr Lewis pointed out that inaction will only get consumers higher bills, as gas costs have risen by between 15 and 19 per cent, while electricity has gone up by between five and 16 per cent.
"If you do nothing your bills will go up," he noted. "Don't sit on your backside - sort it."
The expert also advised customers to check an online energy comparison site, such as energyhelpline.com, to find their cheapest tariff by typing in their postcode and average energy usage.
