The government's plans to encourage Brits to go green will have to win over the public, it has been said.
Sustain Worldwide co-founder Gordon Miller argued many people do not view eco-friendliness as either critical or "sexy".
Implementing new policies to encourage sustainability will be an "uphill struggle" until this mindset changes, he continued.
It is possible that a large number of professional installers of sustainable devices will become available once the Green Deal comes into play, as "there is talk of a swathe of people being trained up", the specialist noted.
Recently, the government announced that Edinburgh will be the headquarters of the Green Investment Bank, which will encourage businesses to fund the development of renewable energy generators and other low-carbon technologies.
Its main transaction staff will be based in London and it is expected to be operational in the autumn.
The Green Deal is due to commence in October of this year, Mr Miller stated.
