npower 'first of the energy suppliers to confirm Welsh boiler scrappage' - 24/03/2010
The introduction of a Welsh boiler scrappage scheme has been welcomed by npower. The company claims it is first among energy suppliers to act on the scheme by immediately launching its own plan and says its offer will extend to customers of all ages - not just those over 60.
Chief executive officer of npower retail Kevin Miles said: "It's vital we play our part in supporting this government initiative. Customers can now enjoy £900 off the cost of a new boiler, which could be almost a third off the cost of an installation."
He added that this saving does not include the annual saving that customers will notice should they opt to have a new boiler installed.
There are other ways consumers can make sure they access cheaper energy. Opting to switch energy provider or choosing to carry out work insulating a home can help to ensure bills are kept as low as possible as energy usage can fall.
