Energy suppliers EDF have signed a new partnership with social housing company Gentoo, it has emerged.
Under the partnership, Gentoo will deliver a proportion of the energy suppliers' Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) requirements, reports 24Dash.
EDF will work with Gentoo to develop a range of community-based partnerships and promote various cheap energy efficiency solutions. Almost 800 homes in the north-east of England will benefit from insulation and heating measures under the scheme.
Angus Wilby, head of energy services at EDF Energy told 24Dash: "We are delighted to be working with Gentoo to deliver energy efficiency measures that deliver both CO2 savings as well as cost savings."
The CESP programme was launched in September 2009 and is designed to target certain households in low-income areas to improve energy efficiency standards and lower their energy bills.
As the largest producer of low-carbon electricity in the UK, EDF will contribute around £65 million to the CESP over the lifetime of the programme.
