Consumers wishing to switch energy might be interested to hear that an energy supplier will receive three offshore wind turbines from Siemens Wind Power.
According to Renewable Energy Focus, DONG Energy will test the turbines as part of a £50 million research and development project.
Anders Eldrup, chief executive of DONG Energy, commented: ”DONG Energy's leading market position in offshore wind power is based on the company’s long-standing unique skills in the development, construction and operation of offshore wind farms.
"Demonstration activities play an important role in the retention and development of these skills. For DONG Energy, the implementation of new, more efficient, technologies and optimised concepts and processes is an important element in reducing the costs of offshore wind."
Two 6MW turbines are expected to be installed at demo sites in Denmark and the UK, while a 3.6MW turbine is set to find a new home at the energy supplier's test site in Denmark, the news source reported.
