Energy comparison customers looking for green deals may be interested to note that an energy company is improving its offshore wind programme.
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Siemens, Subsea 7, Atkins and Burntisland Fabrications in a bid to make the cost of generating cheap electricity from renewable sources even less expensive.
SSE offshore renewables director Jim Smith commented: "This innovative alliance brings together leading players in offshore wind and offshore oil and gas with vast experience in energy, engineering and construction.
"It should result in the kind of collaborative approach to the big issues that is necessary to make offshore wind the long-term success it can and should be," he added.
It is hoped that the alliance will be able to work together to drive down costs of supply chain delivery of cheap energy.
SSE is the largest generator of electricity derived from renewable sources in the UK.
