A growing number of people in the UK could be keen to get cheap gas and electricity by ensuring their homes are as efficient as possible.
Research by the National House Building Council found individuals who have moved into new abodes that offer a range of low carbon measures are highly satisfied with their property.
It found they are particularly pleased by the lower energy bills and comfortable internal temperatures these dwelling are able to provide.
Director of the NHBC foundation Neil Jefferson said: "Many of the occupiers having experienced the benefits of a highly energy efficient new home would never want to move into an older home again."
However, the organisation called on the government and developers to provide more information about what homeowners can do to ensure they get the most out of their home and receive cheap domestic energy bills.
Recently, a study by SmartNewHomes revealed 82 per cent of buyers make efficiency measures a priority when looking for a new abode.
