Climate change minister Greg Barker will use a speech today to highlight the importance of the Green Deal initiative in helping consumers get cheap energy and driving sustainable growth for the UK.
He will tell the British Property Federation Residential Conference the programme is expected to create billions of pounds of investment for the country and support up to 65,000 jobs by 2015.
The scheme will offer homeowners and landlords a "fantastic opportunity" to transform the UK's housing stock by making abodes more energy efficient, his speech will note.
Mr Barker will say: The Green Deal will make home improvements affordable by removing the upfront cost," adding trusted high street names and independent advisers will offer consumers plenty of choice in how they take advantage of the opportunity.
Recently, Mr Barker also told Greenwise Business the plans are also likely to benefit small business energy users by helping them improve their bottom line.
