The government has launched a programme to help elderly people pay for their cheap electricity usage.Pensioners on Pension Credit - Guarantee Credit will automatically receive rebates of at least £120 off their energy bill each year under the Warm Home Discount scheme, while other groups may also be eligible for support.Some two million households will be given help each year under the new initiative, with energy suppliers providing most of the rebates in the winter, when budgets may be tight for many people.Energy secretary Chris Huhne commented: "The Warm Home Discount will give the most vulnerable pensioners practical help to manage rising energy bills through an annual rebate."He added: "Energy companies will be required by law to provide this support."Make sure you're not paying too much for your energy - compare gas and electricity prices now at energyhelpline.com or call 0800 074 0745
