Householders wanting to find a cheap energy deal with fixed rates could sign up to the newly launched Online Fixed Saver November 2012 plan from ScottishPower.
The tariff is five per cent cheaper than the energy supplier's standard monthly direct debit costs - and domestic energy users will have their prices fixed until October 31st 2012 - protecting them against price hikes in the next 15 months.
However, if customers decide to switch energy suppliers after moving onto the plan, ScottishPower will charge them cancellation fees of £20.42 for gas and £30.64 for electricity - although these costs could change if the government alters the VAT rate between now and the end of the tariff.
Consumers have been advised to switch to a fixed energy tariff in light of recent price hikes.
