Energy supplier
npower has confirmed the launch of a new structure for its energy bills, designed to be clearer to understand.
Following the revamp of the bill layout, the company has received the Crystal Mark for clarity from the Plain English Campaign.
The bill is now split into three pages, each detailing differing items.
The first page is designed to be clearer, showing the customer's account details, a customer service number, emergency contact details, how much is owed and whether the bill is estimated or comes from a meter reading.
Other pages deal with jargon and how the customer's account balance has been calculated.
Managing director of retail operations at npower Chris Johnson said: "Our discussions with customers and stakeholders have told us that people want their energy bills to be clearer and simpler: they want to know how much they have to pay and how that amount has been calculated."
Customers of npower do not have to switch energy tariffs to benefit from the new bills - all clients will receive the new-format bills from this week onwards.
The change follows claims that customers have in previous years been overcharged by the energy supplier.
