The Conservative Party has pledged to make it easier for consumers to switch energy providers in order to make cost savings.
The Tories said that if they win the general election, they will make sure that every energy bill provides householders with information on how to move to the cheapest energy tariff offered by their energy suppliers.
Consumers will also be provided with information designed to help them compare energy providers and determine how their energy usage measures up to that of similar households.
The party also promised to improve the efficiency of everyday products in order to help consumers cut back on their electricity use and save money.
In order to improve the efficiency of appliances, the Tories plan to expand successful initiatives such as the top runner scheme, which judges individual appliances against specific targets.
A new green deal will also be launched to give every home up to £6,500 worth of energy improvement measures, which will be paid for with the savings made on fuel bills.
