Demand for solar panels 'is increasing' - 05/04/2011

Domestic customers wanting to compare energy prices might look to invest in home power-generating equipment such as solar panels.

According to the This is Business section of eastmidlands.co.uk, one company specialising in energy saving heating systems believes government incentives are encouraging more homeowners to consider photovoltaic panels and other green energy apparatus.

"Users of renewable energy will be paid generously," said Nigel Parkes, managing director of Underfloor Warehouse.

"That obviously acts as an incentive."

Mr Parkes revealed that turnover for his company is likely to increase more than three-fold in the next few years, rising from £6.3 million this year to £20 million by 2013.

Meanwhile, solar panel firm Enerfina has urged cheap energy customers to take advantage of the longer spring days and fit photovoltaic systems to their homes and businesses in order to generate their own green electricity.

The company pointed out that solar panels are most effective on south-facing roofs and collect energy even on cloudy and overcast days.
