E.ON ready for Green Deal, claims boss - 26/03/2012

People looking to get cheap electricity this year by taking advantage of the Green Deal may be pleased to hear one energy supplier has confirmed it is ready for the rollout.

Phil Gilbert, head of new home services at E.ON, told BusinessGreen the firm is fully prepared to begin fitting measures such as insulation, assuming the programme proceeds as currently intended.

However, he warned there are still a number of questions hanging over the scheme that may disrupt its plans.

"If there's a bit of a rethink on an element, we would clearly have to reassess. The [consultation] outcomes don't appear until June – June to October is not long [to react]," he warned.

Mr Gilbert also suggested the initiative will be slow to take off, as consumers will be wary about taking on a complex debt arrangement in the current financial climate.

Meanwhile, head of Green Deal at British Gas Andrew Pass stated recently the most popular renovations taken up by consumers piloting the scheme are insulation and microgeneration equipment, 24Dash reported.
