Formerly known as Powergen, E.ON is one of the largest gas and electricity companies in the UK with around 8 million customers. They offer a range of low-priced tariffs and have a history of good customer service.
We have given E.ON a 4 star service rating as they recently had a low number of cases raised against them by Consumer Focus. They offer an extended hours 0845 customer service centre and the ability to fully manage your account online.
Generally, E.ON’s cheapest tariff is Save Online. With this tariff you have the ability to manage your account online - viewing and paying bills, adjusting direct debit payments and submitting meter readings.
The Age UK tariff offers special perks to elderly people and can also be very good value.
E.ON energy customers who pay their bills by Direct Debit or prepayment and manage their accounts online are eligible for a free Energy Fit Starter Pack, containing an Energy Monitor and software to help see and track their electricity usage.
Please note that if you switch away from an E.ON tariff then discounts are not paid on the final bill.
