British Gas - Price Protection
British Gas is the largest provider of gas and electricity in the UK with about 10 million gas customers and 5 million electricity customers. They are also known as Scottish Gas in Scotland and Nwy Prydain in Wales.The Price Protection tariffs were fixed at a set percentage above the standard rate at the time of taking out the policy for a period of one to two years. This means that your gas and electricity prices would not change before then even if the supplier raised their prices.
The Price Protection tariffs are no longer available to new customers, but British Gas does have other fixed price energy tariffs available.
