There are many opportunities for firms to reduce their costs by improving their business energy efficiency, a leading environmental charity has said.
According to Friends of the Earth, there is are a "huge" amount of ways in which businesses can lower their costs - for instance by becoming more efficient in the way they use fuel and by implementing a raft of efficiency measures.
The organisation also pointed out that firms looking to become more sustainable should look into investing in low carbon technologies, while individuals can take various steps to lower their individual carbon footprint.
Craig Bennett, director of policy and campaigns for Friends of the Earth, said: "One of the most important things is to try and make sure that their own houses are as energy efficient as possible by making sure that they have got the right insulation in place."
He went on to say that although the UK has made some important inroads in lowering emissions such as the Climate Change Act, there needs to be more action to tackle the effects of greenhouse gases.
