An expert has hailed Scotland's sustainable cheap energy potential as "phenomenal".
According to Leonie Green, external affairs spokesperson at the Renewable Energy Association, the plentiful cheap energy opportunities available in Scotland in terms of marine and wind power will help bring about a boom in the employment sector.
She went on to explain that these renewable power sources should be harnessed to create valuable heating centres and drive economic expansion, as well as helping to combat global warming.
Ms Green called on the government to expedite the move towards a low-carbon economy through the use of renewable energy sources.
"The UK is so far behind on renewables that we cannot afford delays or uncertainty and we hope they will prioritise that sector," she said.
Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond recently announced at the Aberdeen Asset Management conference that increased investment in renewable energy technology could create up to 60,000 green jobs across the country.
