Cheap energy users might be surprised to learn that Homecall+, an emergency heating and breakdown firm, has gone bust.
The company provided emergency insurance to householders and landlords, meaning there was no extra cost for calling out a Homecall+ engineer or repairer when something went wrong with the gas boiler, drains, plumbing, heating or electrics.
Heatcover customers who took out a policy before December 3rd 2010 could still have their plan honoured but those who have bought new policies may be able to approach the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) for advice.
The scheme said in a statement: "Customers who believe they need to claim should contact us - the sooner policyholders do this, the quicker it is likely to be declared in default."
