Alex Salmond launches energy MBA - 13/04/2012

International business gas and electricity experts will be able to study a bespoke Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course in Scotland, which has just been revealed by first minister Alex Salmond.

It will also enable ScottishPower employees to attain a global qualification and is forecast to result in workers from over 40 countries coming to the nation to research the opportunities and challenges faced in energy markets.

Mr Salmond made the announcement during a meeting with Ignacio Galan, chairman of ScottishPower's parent company Iberdrola, at the company's Madrid-based training centre.

"The energy industry - particularly renewables - offers the opportunity to reindustrialise Scotland," he said.

"I look forward to welcoming Iberdrola's first MBA students to Glasgow next year," the politician added.

The course will be run by Iberdrola, the University of Strathclyde, ScottishPower and Madrid's Comillas Pontifical University.

Less than one per cent of all international business schools have received triple accreditation, but Strathclyde is in this group.
