Consumers in Yorkshire hoping to switch energy deals might have heard that the Humber Gateway wind farm plans have been approved.
Run by energy supplier E.ON, the site will contain 77 turbines generating enough power to serve up to 150,000 homes.
It is the fifth offshore wind facility to be developed by E.ON in the UK and will be located eight kilometres off the coast of Holderness, East Yorkshire.
Energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne commented: ''Offshore wind not only provides clean, green, secure energy, the investment that comes with it is great for the UK economy too.
''A new wind farm off the Humberside coast will be a further jobs and investment boost for the region, hot on the heels of Siemens' announcement of plans to develop the Port of Hull," he added.
The Humber Gateway is the first offshore renewable energy farm to receive permission since the end of 2008.
