British households going green to save energy - 02/04/2012
Many homeowners in the UK are looking to go green to cut their power usage and get cheap energy, it has been claimed.
A study by M&S Home Insurance found 87 per cent of people are switching lights off with they are not in a room and 85 per cent have fitted energy efficient bulbs.
Seven out of ten will ensure they switch their central heating off when there is no-one at home and 64 per cent would rather wear extra layers to stay warm than turn up the thermostat.
Home Insurance Manager at M&S Money Fleur Carruthers said: "In the current economic climate saving money is a huge priority for most households, so it's great to see so many people are realising the financial benefits of going green while also helping the environment."
Recently, director at SustainableLivingExpert.co.uk Julia Goodfellow-Smith said people should consider fitting thermostatic radiator values so they can control the temperatures of rooms individually, as this is one way to save money and help the environment.
