Fixed rate tariffs come to an end - 01/04/2011
Domestic customers who have been benefiting from fixed rates on their cheap gas and electricity tariffs are set to be affected by changes to their deals.
From today (April 1st), a number of fixed rate tariffs will be expiring, so the deals that protected cheap energy customers throughout the winter of price rises will no longer exist.
Instead, householders who have been using fixed rate tariffs will be moved on to standard ones or to new - and more expensive - fixed rates.
While energy suppliers have informed their customers of the changes to their tariffs, consumers may not realise that there are other options for them. Carrying out an energy comparison online may save them a significant amount of money each year, and they may be able to find another fixed rate deal to protect them from future prices rises in the coming months.
