Park home residents in Silsden, West Yorkshire, suffering from a lack of cheap energy are to have insulation and cladding provided by Bradford council.
Park homes are single-storey timber structures built around a steel frame and are heated using liquefied natural gas, but they are often occupied by pensioners who are more likely to struggle with energy bills, while their frequent locations off the gas grid can also increase costs, report the Telegraph & Argus.
The insulation will be provided by the Bradford Community Warmth Park Homes Project and could help retain heat during the winter months.
Councillor Adrian Naylor, executive member for regeneration and the economy, told the paper: "We are funding these insulation measures to make these types of homes - that miss out on the most common insulation schemes - a great deal warmer."
It is hoped that the scheme will help reduce levels of fuel poverty in the region, where homeowners allocate more than ten per cent of their annual income to utility bills.
