DIYers 'should consider replacing radiators' - 10/05/2012

People who are looking to switch gas supplier to reduce their heating bills may also find there are steps they can take at home to help them get cheap energy.

It was suggested by Paul Minderides, professional tradesman at Wickes, that fitting new radiators that use less water is a task people should consider.

This can be done easily without draining the entire system and is something every keen DIYer should learn how to do without professional help, he said, suggesting individuals take a look at his firm's how-to videos for advice.

"What you will be left with is a modern radiator which uses less water, which you can control at the thermostat and it should save you some money over the year," Mr Minderides explained.

People may find there are a range of home improvement tasks that they will be able to fund as part of the Green Deal in the coming months, with the Independent reporting climate change minister Greg Barker has been keen to highlight the benefits of low-energy light bulbs.
