Energy suppliers npower launch efficiency scheme with local council - 03/09/2010
Energy suppliers npower have teamed up with a local authority to provide cheap energy initiatives to local homes.
The Energise Higher Shotton scheme launched in conjunction with Flintshire County Council will help more than 1,000 homes in the Higher Shotton area reduce their bills and lower their carbon emissions.
Funded through the Community Energy Saving Programme, the scheme is open to both private householders and tenants and will offer homes new gas central heating systems and replacement of inefficient boilers.
Private householders will have to pay a contribution of £300 for new central heating systems, insulation and improved heating controls.
Clare Budden, head of housing at Flintshire County Council, said the local authority is one of the few in the UK that has been able to achieve this type of funding.
"This will significantly accelerate the programme of improvement we have set for the area, ensuring our tenants and private householders can benefit from higher levels of energy efficiency and lower fuel bills," she commented.
