Many Brits set to delay turning on their heating - 12/10/2011

A large number of people in the UK may like to compare energy tariffs in order to find cheap gas deals this month, as a new survey has found many individuals are worried about their winter fuel bills.

According to a YouGov study carried out for Anglian Home Improvements, 44 per cent of Brits will try and leave it later this year before they turn their central heating on, with 16 per cent hoping to make it to November before they need to warm up their radiators.

Of those looking to delay their use of gas supplies, almost nine out of ten said they will be relying on extra clothes to stave off the cold, while 59 per cent will wrap themselves in blankets and 37 per cent will use a hot water bottle.

Recent research from Legal & General revealed less than half of households in the UK have money remaining after they have settled their monthly expenses, which could lead to more people struggling to meet their energy bills if prices continue to rise.
