A large number of people in the UK may look to get cheap electricity and gas by improving the efficiency of their home.
According to research carried out by aspect.co.uk to mark Energy Saving Week, over half of homeowners in London would consider fitting solar panels to help reduce their energy bills.
These may be proving popular at the moment, as the Daily Mail reported there has been a surge of interest following an announcement from the government that Feed-in Tariff payments are to be cut by more than half for installations registered after December 12th.
Aspect.co.uk's study also found 21 per cent of homeowners would look into ways of saving water, while 15 per cent are considering having a more efficient boiler fitted.
Managing director of the firm William Davies said that as well as looking to cut their energy bills, "people are also becoming much more environmentally aware, and reducing emissions clearly helps to reduce the overall impact on the environment".
